The Alchemist: A book review

alchemist large

So I recently read ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho. Since it isn’t a very lengthy novel, I’d like to begin with what I didn’t like about it. Firstly, it gets kinda boring in the middle, I mean it took me nearly two weeks to finish a book that’s just about 150 pages and this is coming from a girl that finishes four books in four days *Slight bragging* Secondly, I found the book to be fairly ideal in certain parts. The message was clear; you have to keep moving and keep facing your fears and challenges in order to follow your heart, but then doing that is slightly tougher in real life than one simple sentence.  That’s pretty much all that I disliked about the book.

Coming to what I did like about it.

It’s simply a beautiful book, with a beautiful message. From the prologue to the very last sentences, it makes you reflect back on life in a completely different manner. I love how the book ended, precisely where it began. I love how it was written and I love how it made you think about life as though it was a fairy tale while somehow also making you face reality. The characters were portrayed with immaculate precision and true to their purpose. It’s truly a book that one has to read.

Happy reading! xoxo
